Year 5 hear the true stories of the Windrush generation
Year 5 have been learning about immigration to the UK after 1945, something which has shaped the lives of almost all our families at Earlham. We were visited by Marisa who shared some of the true stories of people on the Empire Windrush. We heard about their reasons for coming to England, their hopes and dreams for their new lives here, and discussed how they felt on arrival.
Our next step is to interview immigrants to the UK and research some of the 'push' and 'pull' factors that caused them to move here. Watch this space for our vox pop films of our interviews!
