Communication Procedures
At Earlham we value good communication with parents and carers and know that the best results for children are achieved when home and school work together. The first step is achieving clear and open conversation with your child’s classroom teacher, which is welcomed face to face at the end of every school day in the playground, after the teacher has dismissed their class. Any quick questions, check ins, queries or concerns the teachers are always happy to talk about- the vast majority of which can be resolved informally.
If in the unlikely event that after discussion and working with the class teacher, you are unsatisfied with the outcome then please follow the procedures below to ensure a speedy resolution.
-
The next step should be a longer meeting with the class teacher to resolve any issues. If you would like to speak to them, please call the office to ask them to make an appointment for a phone call or in person meeting. Please note that they may take up to 24 hours to return your call due to when the call is received.
-
Please be aware that, depending on the nature of your query, you may need to give the office an outline of the query so that the teacher can find out further information in order to provide a fuller answer during your phone call/ meeting. A second phone call/ meeting can be arranged if required.
-
If the teacher cannot answer your query to your satisfaction, please make an appointment to speak to your child’s ‘phase’ leader (details on our website).
-
Should this fail to resolve your concern please refer to the school’s complaints procedure, which is available on our website.
-
If your concern relates to the behaviour of another child, please do not speak to that child or their parent yourself as this often causes problems. Please follow the procedures explained in this letter and allow staff to deal with the problem.
-
Our staff will always maintain a professional and respectful manner when communicating with you. Please note that we expect parents and carers to behave similarly in order to maintain positive relationships with the school and a safe environment for our employees. Aggressive or disrespectful behaviour will not help you resolve your concerns and may lead to further action from the school.
