Parents Maths Workshop
Earlham’s Maths parent workshop had 40 attendees and maths lesson doors were open to show lessons live.
“The lessons are so much more practical than when we were at school”, quoted one of the parents, who also had the opportunity to trial out the calculations using the concrete manipulatives (place value counters and base 10) followed by demonstrating at the front!
Our maths lead Saliha Patel shared the mastery approach as to how we structure our two part maths lesson, with a concise focus embedded with reasoning and opportunities to deepen understanding.
The Year 3 and 4 lessons observed involved purposeful links between whole-part, visual representations alongside true / false questions were used effectively.
Further maths workshops for Early Years, Year 1 and upper Key Stage two will take place over the course of the year.
