World Book Day

Children brought their favourite book characters to life today to celebrate World Book Day. There were enough Harry Potters and Hermione Grangers to fill Hogwarts three times over, along with many other favourite characters. The children looked fantastic, and there was a real buzz around school and a real chatter about our favourite books. Staff were keen to get in on the act as well with an eclectic mix of costumes featuring some well-known book characters.

Well done to everyone and a big thank you to parents for making such a big effort.

Fire Brigade

Nursery and Reception had a wonderful experience with the Stratford Fire Station. The children enjoyed spraying the hose, climbing into the truck and listening to the siren. The children asked some great questions including why do you use water to put out a fire!

Year 5 IG Project

Our Year 5 cohort is embarking on a meaningful intergenerational project, connecting with elderly members of our community to explore personal stories of migration. Through conversations and shared experiences, students will learn about the journeys that brought people to England—where they lived, how they traveled, and what life was like before and after migration. This project not only deepens our understanding of history and culture but also fosters empathy, respect, and a stronger sense of community across generations.

Year 5 Forest Gate Community Garden

Year 5 went to the Forest Gate Community Garden to consolidate our understanding of how plants reproduce sexually and asexually. We examined flowers, revising our knowledge of the parts of a flower, and some plants (ginger and daffodils) that reproduce by growing bulbs. We also learnt about different insects and their habitats.

Year 5 British Museum trip

On Wednesday 5th February, Year 5 went on a trip to the British Museum. We did a trail hunt to find different artefacts relating to the British Empire and discussed why those objects were in the British Museum now. We considered what countries we would expect to find artefacts from and what kind of objects we use now are inspired by other countries that once belonged to the British Empire.

Year 3 British Museum trip

Year 3 went to an exciting trip to the British Museum to learn about Ancient Egyptians. Here they competed a treasure hunt in their groups and analysed details on a sarcophagus.

Educational visit to Sri Sambodhi Buddhist Meditation Centre

The children visited the Buddhist temple to learn about Buddha's life and how his teachings guide Buddhists in their daily lives.

Trip to the museum of homes

Today, we explored the Museums of the Home and discovered a fascinating collection of artifacts that showed how homes have changed over time. We then spent time looking at different household items from the past and used our oracy skills to discuss their significance. In the workshop, we got creative and built our own miniature houses, bringing history to life through hands-on learning. It was an exciting and immersive experience!

Year 5 Science Museum

Year 5 had an exciting trip to the Science Museum to explore the Space exhibition. We had the opportunity to see a wide range of exhibits, including a full-sized replica of the Eagle lunar module, which famously carried the first astronauts to the Moon. We also got to explore authentic astronaut suits and take part in hands-on, interactive displays that brought the planets and outer space to life.

One of the highlights was learning about the unique challenges astronauts face while living and working in space. From how they breathe, eat, and drink to the clever ways they manage everyday tasks like using the toilet in zero gravity, it was amazing to see how science and innovation make life possible beyond Earth.

Year 1 Emmanuel Church

We went on a trip to Emmanuel Church and learned about the story of the birth of Jesus. We heard how Jesus was born in a stable because there was no room in the inn. This story is very important to Christians and shows how Jesus brought love and hope to the world. Our visit helped us understand how this story connects to what we have been learning about religion and the way people see the world. It was a special way to learn about the values of kindness in different religions.
