Year 1 visit the Tower of London

Year 1 pupils enjoyed an exciting visit to one of London's most famous landmarks, the Tower of London. A royal castle, a fortress, a prison and now the home of the Crown Jewels, there was so much history to explore! We admired the bling of the Crown Jewels, and chatted to some of the Beefeaters or Yeoman Warders who live and work at the Tower. We explored just about every nook and cranny of this amazing building and grounds, and saw real suits of armour - for horses as well as princes and knights - and a huge dragon made entirely from weapons and armour. Then we met Guy Fawkes, who described what it was like being locked in a room in the Tower, and we saw a rack just like the one used to torture him! We imagined what it would be like to be locked in a cold, dark cell. We also saw some other London landmarks, including Tower Bridge. It was a great way to bring history to life!
